Time to taste what you most fear

Dead Kennedys - “Holiday in Cambodia” (1980)

I had no idea what a nauseating harbinger my high school graduation ceremony would end up being. I was already feeling fucked and farcical, but that one stupid afternoon finally made it all feel official….

My graduation wasn’t like this at all. Or maybe it was and I’ve blotted it out. I’ve blotted out a lot of my high school experiences.

The Dead Kennedys, however, remain. With a fountain of fads, more rock-n-roll ads, DRUG ME DRUG ME DRUG ME ME ME.

An old man’s thought: How are we supposed to explain this to our children? Someday am I going to teach my grandson the bassline to “Let’s Lynch the Landlord”? Is he going to want to learn it?
